    I'm Really Bad at This

Thursday, May 1, 2008, 10:54 AM CST [General]

    Hi everybody!

I can't believe I haven't mentioned anything since November.  I'll have to try to get better at updating everyone on how everything is going.

This past season didn't end well.  I still averaged 181, but it's a far cry from what I'm capable of.  Clearly there are things to work on before next fall.

I'll try to get back to updates and get some new videos up over the summer.

Tuesday Early Birds - Weeks 7-12

Tuesday, November 27, 2007, 10:24 AM CST [Leagues]

Wow...it's been over a month since I've been here.  I need to learn to show up more often.  :)

It's been up and down since week 6.  Here's how it's been going:

    Week 7:  183-170-173/526
    Week 8:  165-233-176/574
    Week 9:  156-161-155/472
    Week 10:  214-211-180/605
    Week 11:  204-170-197/571
    Week 12:  176-213-202/591

Starting at week 10 (and still trying to figure out what's wrong with me), I asked to be moved from 4th to 1st in the line-up...which worked since I'm not nearly as anxious now, but I still had a problem with weak ball reactions.  So last week (week 12), I spared in the 10th and decided to try something after watching someone else.  I moved 6 boards right on the approach and moved my target 6 boards right as well to see how much oil was out there.  Instead of the shot I've been throwing for years (20 out to 7 or 8 and back), this line was 7 out to 4 or 5 and back (much tighter than I'm used to throwing).  Anyway, I tried that for the last ball in game 1.  My Violet Gargoyle made a huge left turn and went through the head pin.  Not exactly the result I wanted, but definitely the ball reaction I was looking for.  So I moved left on the approach and stayed out there for the rest of the night.

The back ends became dry as the 3rd game progressed, so I switched from my Violet to my Green Gargoyle for 2 frames, then started alternating between the Green on the left lane and my urethane Blue Gargoyle on the right...ended with 4-in-a-row and a spare for 202...which I was happy with.  :)

I'll stay out around the 5 board this week and see what happens.  :)

Not yet. But he'll hear about it. And he won't be happy to hear it. Mainly 'cause he's the one who got me that ball in the first place.

Thank you for your comment. I hope you are right. I'm sooooo stressed out over it. Just when I think I have it figured out, I'm wrong. I just don't understand, how I can totally lose it. Instead of getting better, it seems to be getting worse, if that is even possible.

Hope your bowling is going well.
